Yesterday I attended my kids’ D.A.R.E. graduation and I cannot begin to express how valuable this program is to young children. It’s never too early to start educating kids and parents about the dangers of drugs. Five years ago, my 17 year old nephew overdosed on drugs and although my kids were only six, they still remember the impact his actions had on his family and friends.
Each child had to make a pledge about staying drug-free. My son stated that he wanted to stay drug-free so that he could have a happy and healthy body for sports. He also added that his cousin died from taking drugs and that he didn’t want that to happen to him. Iwas extremely proud that he would share that in front of 70 classmates, parents, and teachers.
