The term “getting away” has taken an entirely new meaning with the Primland Resort located near Meadows of Dan, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This resort was built by the Prima family from Switzerland on 12,000 pristine acres they acquired in the mid-seventies. The 26-room resort opened in 2009 and features a World-class golf course, fine dining, outdoor activities and an observatory for star gazing.
The resort is absolutely spectacular with modern designs and traditional craftsmanship. In addition to the 26-room main hotel there are several private homes for rent and even a luxury treehouse that offers a 270-degree view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. During my stay I managed to play some golf, experience the observatory and workout at the gym as well as on the mountain bike trail. There is plenty of wildlife to see including bear, deer, other indigenous animals.
The suites are quite large and offer plenty of space for a couple or small family to spread out. Since the resort is so secluded, I suspect the rooms don’t get as much traffic as more mainstream resorts which keeps the resort looking new and fresh. The bottom line is that this is the perfect resort for travelers looking to see the Blue Ridge Mountains in Five-Star accommodations.
